July News: Certification Overhaul
We’re hard at work redesigning both the National Family Support Professional Certification Exam and the Pre-Assessment, and we’re excited about the improvements.
The Certification Exam will be slightly longer because every question is now directly aligned with a specific component of the National Core Competency Framework. While there are more questions, the exam will feel more relevant to your everyday work and better reflect the knowledge and skills needed to be successful as a family support professional.
The Pre-Assessment is getting a complete makeover as well! Rather than serving as a lengthy assessment, it will become a short practice test designed to help you prepare for the certification exam. It will include three multiple-choice questions from each competency domain, giving you a realistic preview of the exam experience.
We’ve also eliminated the “gotcha” questions. No more tricky wording or questions that require memorizing obscure facts. Instead, the focus is on applying the knowledge and skills that matter most in your work with families.
So, when will it be available? That’s the million-dollar question! While we can’t provide an exact release date just yet, we’re anticipating a launch by the end of September. In the meantime, the best way to prepare is to use the National Core Competency Framework as your study guide. Be sure you understand each component at the Recognize Level, and don’t forget to use the glossary at the end of the framework if you come across unfamiliar terms.
We can’t wait to hear what you think once the new exam is released. Stay tuned!
