“It’s incredibly rewarding to see how a small amount of support from someone they don’t know can help families grow stronger and become more resilient,” Martinez said. “But home visiting also leaves a positive impact on my own professionalism. Everyday I’m developing stronger communication skills, building relationships with families and community resources, and gaining leadership and advocacy skills.”

“Azuzena’s positive energy is a detectable force,” said colleague Brynn Friedrich. “She brings her work team and the families she serves a dedication and willingness that comes from within. The call for nominees to name five national Home Visitors of the Year was heard loud and clear, far and wide. We were blown away by the quality and diverse range of home visitors nominated by supervisors, colleagues and friends of the industry.

Missouri Home Visiting Leader Embraces the Institute for Professional Development Opportunities
Wright has spent nearly two decades as a home visitor in Missouri, partnering with hundreds of families along the way. Today, she mentors and supports local home visitors through ChildCare Aware Missouri, a statewide nonprofit focused on supporting the early childhood workforce and those who work on behalf of children.
